Can i drink alcohol the night before i get a Novocaine shot?

I am having a root c done tomorrow morning at 10am and am going to a birthday dinner tonight where I know I will be drinking. I have heard that if you drink the night before a Novocaine shot, the shot will not work. Is this true?
