You are fishing muddy water. Use your jig but add rattlers to it. Also an attractant will help. The jig you described that you are using seems like a good one. Not sure the weight size though. I would use at least 3/8 oz. jig. As the water cools down for the fall. The crankbait should be the best. You may also want to try at texas rigged brush hog. Keep in mind, muddy water you should use a darker color.
