Where do you get the SMG in M Effect?

I'm on my 2nd playthrough, & forgot where I found the 1st actual SMG gun you get. I'm using the Adept cl this time around, & lately I've been getting my @$$ whooped, but it wasn't that way when I 1st started, so I'm guessing that it's because I need a stronger weapon. I have the Machine Pistol, but I like to pick people off from fairly far away (not far enough to snipe).
